Okay... To anyone following me that's familiar with the BJT, I'm in desperate need of help working though a concept character idea. Without talking it out it keeps growing more and more wild in my head, an I can feel it eating away and what little sanity I have left. If any of you are well versed with the black jewels, please help me be rid of manticore

Race 1 Fabricators(Until a better name can be thought up) Always NPC 3 foot diameter sphere made of unknown black metal with a faint, dull, red luster that faintly reveals that the body is mostly made from segmented concentric circles. These circles each resemble an expandable metal watch band, hinting that the Fabricator can "open" Into a much larger area, expanding to several times it's original size. Once the sphere opens, one would find the concentric rings have turned into dozens of guide rails for  neumerous, highly articulated, appendages used in gripping, carving, shaving, and otherwise manipulating metal in any way the fabricator
